What's New in ZET 8

Home News ZET features Downloads Registration User Guide FAQ

Main features

  • 'Complex charts' - display up to 7 rings of planets (instead of 2) of any type of chart on the wheel. E.g. display concentrically the following 5 rings: natal, transit, equatorial direction, secondary progression, minor progression - and animate them. There are now 3 kinds of chart wheel: single, dual, and complex. As before, though, two sets of event data are operative in chart calculations: core data for natal planets in the 1st ring, and background data for the external ring(s). See example Screenshot 1.
  • 'Fixed charts' - any type of horoscope can be put on the wheel, independent of the current event data. These charts must be calculated beforehand and saved. Complex charts can contain fixed charts in their rings. This feature makes it possible to combine charts for different events with a natal chart e.g. a triple chart containing natal-man, natal-woman, and transit-wedding.
  • Chart Type Selector window, invoked from the Toolbar or using or F5 key, lists available chart formats and horoscope types (transit, progressed, directed, ...), and complex and fixed chart types defined by the user. This window allows charts to be customized on-the-fly: select the chart format, the number of rings, and the type of chart for each ring.
  • Composite charts (a type of relationship chart).
  • Coalescent charts (a type of synastry for couples).
  • Aspect Direction matrix for quickly setting the aspects vector in dual and complex charts, invoked with Alt+A - one click selects the pair of planet rings to use in the aspectarian and listings.
  • Configuration Manager for handling the new ZET 8 wheel features in chart configurations. It allows the following types of linkage between chart type and configuration (appearance and settings):
    1) Configuration can be independent of the chart type (as was the case in ZET 7).
    2) Single (natal and horary) charts, and dual type chart formats, can be assigned a configuration automatically when selecting the type of chart (dual types have a common configuration).
    3) Each dual chart type can have its own configuration, automatically set when choosing the type of chart. (This correspondence is created in the the Dual Chart Editor window). If no specific correspondence is in place for the chart type, Variant 2 is used.
    4) The History of calculations automatically includes a reference to the current configuration. When a chart is selected from the History list its original configuration can be reused.
    5) When a chart is restored from a Shortcut icon, its original configuration can be reused.
The Horoscope Wizard does not utilize the Configuration Manager.
  • The option of using TrueType fonts for glyphs, in addition to ZET fonts. [screenshot].

  • Alternative Rulers of Term: Ptolemy, Egyptians, Lilly, custom.

  • The astrological formula description language has been enhanced - you can now refer to planets in midpoint; planets, houses, almutens of the outer chart ring (for interpretation); declination aspects (e.g. antiscion, parallel); cusps; separating and applying aspects.
