Constellations

The Constellations window is opened by clicking the "Tables" button on the Toolbar, and selecting the "Constellations" menu item.

The window contains a complete list of the astronomical constellations, their standard abbreviations, and Latin names. An adjacent pane lists, for convenience, the Greek alphabet used in the designation of stars within constellations.

The table can be sorted to list constellations by abbreviation - click the left mouse button on the column heading.

Right-click the mouse in the table for a popup menu with one choice: "View...". When enabled it indicates that the constellation has a picture which can be displayed by selecting the menu option.

Double-click the mouse button in the left cell of the table to view a constellation in the Cosmos or the Celestial Sphere tableaux. The selected constellation is marked with a » (chevron) in the Constellations table; double-click the chevron to deselect it. Only one constellation can be viewed at a time.
